Air Marshal Narayan Menon
Former Air Officer-in-Charge
Air Marshal Narayan Menon was commissioned into the Indian Air Force on December 25, 1964. During the 1971 war, he flew 18 strike missions against Pakistan. As Air Officer Commanding J&K during the Kargil operations, he was responsible for the local conduct of the air war against Pakistani intruders.

Retired Indian Army General
General V. P. Malik served as Chief of the Indian Army and Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee of India from October 1, 1997, to September 30, 2000. As Army Chief, he planned and oversaw Operation Vijay during the Kargil conflict. He has authored two books, ‘Kargil: From Surprise to Victory’ and ‘India’s Military Conflicts and Diplomacy: An Inside View of Decision Making’.
Lt Gen Mohinder Puri
Retired Indian Army General
Lt. Gen. Mohinder Puri, commissioned into the Third Gorkha Rifles in 1966, led the Indian counter-offensive during the Kargil War, capturing key positions. The operations, marked by significant casualties and numerous gallantry awards, were a testament to exceptional bravery, fortitude, and exemplary junior leadership. He authored 'Kargil: Turning the Tide', detailing the war.

Retired Indian Army General
Lt. Gen. Yogesh Kumar Joshi, commissioned into the 13 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles in 1982, is a highly decorated war hero. During the Kargil War, he led his battalion to capture strategic mountaintops. For its exceptional performance in battle, 13 JAK RIF under his command was awarded a record total of 37 Gallantry awards.
Capt Yashika Tyagi
Ex-Indian Army Officer & Kargil War Veteran
An alumnus of the Officers’ Training Academy Chennai, Capt. Tyagi was the first woman logistics officer posted to the highest battlefield on earth, the Siachen Glacier. In 1999, she was the first woman logistics officer in Operation Vijay. Despite being in her second trimester of pregnancy, she fulfilled her duties, ensuring timely supply chain management.

Lt. Gen. Prakash Menon served in the Indian Army for 40 years, with extensive operational experience. He was the Commandant of the National Defence College and Military Adviser and Secretary to the Government of India in the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS).

Lt Gen (Dr) Rakesh Sharma's forty-year career in the Indian Army includes extensive operational experience in Jammu and Kashmir, the North East, and the Western Borders. Commissioned into the Gorkha Rifles in 1977, he trained the Botswana Army in Africa and attended the National War College in Nigeria.
Sub Major Sanjay Kumar (Param Vir Chakra)
Indian Junior Commissioned Officer and Kargil War Hero
Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar, PVC, was honored with the Param Vir Chakra for his extraordinary bravery. During the Kargil War on July 4, 1999, he led a team to capture Area Flat Top. Despite being shot, he charged towards enemy bunkers, killed three soldiers in hand-to-hand combat, and used their machine guns to secure the area, ensuring a strategic victory.

A third-generation Army officer commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery in December 1967, Lt Gen Singh fought in the 1971 Indo-Pak war and played a pivotal role in the Kargil War. Known as the 'Enraged Bull of Dras', he utilized overwhelming firepower to achieve victory. For his sterling contribution to our victory in Kargil, he was awarded the Yudh Seva Medal.

A distinguished Indian television journalist and author with 21 years at NDTV, Dutt rose to national prominence for her reporting on the Kargil conflict in 1999, including an interview with Captain Vikram Batra. She has since covered conflicts in Kashmir, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq and has won many awards, including the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honor.

An accomplished author, politician, and former international civil servant, Dr. Tharoor is now in his fourth term as Lok Sabha MP for Thiruvananthapuram. He is also the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs. At the United Nations, he served for nearly three decades, culminating as Under-Secretary-General under Kofi Annan.
